If the kid wants to and is capable of handling more advanced work, why hold the kid back? Why is the acceleration "dirty" or in some way a bad thing?
Why do some people only have an issue with math enrichment or any suggestion that math acceleration could be pay-to-play?
Is it dirty to spend money on private music lessons that help your child be a soloist in the top orchestra?
Is it dirty to spend money on coaching and travel sports that help your child make the varsity team?
Of all of these, math is the least pay-to-play since there are many free or cheap resources.
It's not out of the question if someone is going to Kumon from first grade that they will spend a few thousand a year.

Would it be nonartificial if the DC was the son of a famous mathematician who accelerated DC at home? What if it was the famous uncle mathematician who visited every weekend? Is it only dirty when $$ is involved?
Does Bronny James have an artifical accelerated basketball enrichment over all other high school seniors? If so, why is he only ranked the 21st best high school basketball player?

Their test scores were comparable to an advanced 5th grader who would start algebra in 6th. The school math was nothing special in 3rd. We had been going to outside enrichment.
And how did you get them to cave? I ask because for every situation like yours, I'm sure there are many where the parents aren't able to convince admin
If you keep on them, they'll eventually cave so you go away.
What did "keeping on them" look like in your case? Was it just emails sent to the teacher, or meetings with the principal, or something else?
