My DD’s favorite teacher from elementary school went to Towson. She was amazing with the kids!

UMD is not for shrinking violets. That’s why is has such impressive alumni that have huge impact on US and World economy / culture. Inventors / Creators of Google, Underarmour, the Universal Price Code, the Octane System, Pulse Dopplar radar, Fortnight, the Muppets, Seinfeld, the Wire, the Hybrid Engine, Broke Watergate, Linear programming, Sirius Satellite Radio, Oculus VR, FlavoRX, Rechargeable Pacemaker, The birth control pill.

Plus mor Nobels, Emmys, National Championships, Pulitzers, Academy Awards and Fields Medals than all the Virginia colleges put together.

The Purple Line is a new metro line that's being built, and it runs directly through campus. They had to move the big M to make way for construction. And I'm sure it will be fine when it's done, but it's incredibly disruptive now, and will impact any students who are starting this year for probably their entire college career.

We didn't visit a ton of colleges, but compare that to, say, Towson, which has a single building under construction now, and you can do almost an entire campus tour without even realizing it. There just isn't a whole campus impact like what's going on with the purple line.

There’s this thing called college recruiting and companies (and the government) send their reps to target schools all over the country. UMD does not have.a monopoly on MD/DC/VA internships.

pretty hard to get an internship during the school year in DC when you are over a hundred miles away. Did you know that there are internships that can occur during the school year, rather than just the summer. I did one of those, and it turned into a job right after school.

+1 Good for your DD. Sounds like a great kid. Did you know that Towson has a really good music department? I know because my DH is a musician.
