Have to agree. I knew someone who's best friend once was named Thomasina Waynette. Guess what her father's name was? Yep. Thomas Wayne and she was either the third or fourth (and last) girl in the family and he was like "d@mn it! I'm going to have a kid named after me one way or another". No kidding. This is in the south mind you.....her nickname was apparently Tommy which is cute, but still. Ugh. I feel for her.
This is a pet peeve of mine too. I'd never say this to someone who did it, but whenever I encounter girls who have been named after fathers/grandfathers by feminizing their male names, in my head I think "huh couldn't think of a single woman in your family to honor, okay." Maybe I'd feel differently if you EVER met a boy named after his mom, but you don't, so it grates.

I actually don't think it's as bad as some of the PPs are making it out, but it's not my favorite. Still, I'd think it was cute if I met a little kid named Roberta, because I tend to think of it as an "older" name.

It's because Daniel, Gabriel, and Adrian are all musical, latin-derived names. Adding an extra "l" or an "a" to the end simply continue the existing flow of the names. Robert and Henry are both germanic names with harder, harsher consonants and more definitive endings. Adding "a" or "etta" to the end sounds harsh.
