It was a national search for a black or Latino woman from an ultra liberal school system that ACPS would be a step up from. That person turned out not to exist.

No one in their right mind would want this job.

Why not?! There are extremely low expectations. Zero expectation that you will engage with the few parents who complain (if you ignore them or attack them outright you are praised). The ones who don't complain will fiercely defend you. The entire city makes excuses for the schools ultra poor performances.

Still trying to recover from the damage Hutchings inflicted on the city. The worst superintendent ever. It may take 10 years to dig out of the hole he dug, not a quick fix.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but I need to educate myself about this. Can someone give me a bullet-point list? What damage/s has he caused?

Please don't make us relive it. Maybe read some old threads?

Great… thanks.

Well, it might be valuable to relive some as a warning to Kay-Wyatt and the fact Hutchings was quoted in the Washington Post that he hoped Kay-Wyatt will continue his work.

How about attacking parents who set up pods over the summer of 2020 but in the flip side failing miserably to improve virtual learning over the 2020-2021 school year.

How about preaching “equity” but never offering any concrete solution to address achievement gaps within ACPS.

How about when the rest of the area school districts were moving to outside lunch in 2021, ACPS just refused. Didn’t listen to parents at all and forced kids and adults to eat in what were essentially petri dishes mid-pandemic.

And they said it was done in the name of “equity.” SMH…

No suggestion that Dr. Kay-Wyatt has vision for transformative change at ACPS that is needed. I am not optimistic that we will see anything about the status quo.

Most students on that trip had no idea who she was.

Maybe that’s a good thing, don’t need an insecure showboat Hutchings strutting peacock display.

Nothing is going to change. Change is not wanted in Alexandria.
