Let Me In by REM at Merriweather Post in 2008. It's a tribute to Kurt Cobain.
Another great memory was k.d. Lang singing Hallelujah at Wolftrap.

Nina Simone - honestly her whole set at DAR in 1998 or 2001- I still remember her last note hanging in the air.
Glen Hansard singing JT's 'cry me a river'. The audience organically filled in the falsetto parts and strings sounds and there was lots of laughter. There are very few times you feel yourself making music WITH the artist and it was great.

I’ve seen so many concerts since my first one, which was Glen Campbell (Jerry Reed opened) in 1969..when I was 12. Name a popular artist or band since then, and I’ve probably seen them. Recently, the most powerful, emotional performance was definitely Levon Helm. Saw him and his band at Wolftrap the summer before he died of cancer. By the time he got to the last note of “ I Shall Be Released”…..I was a blubbering mess.

Maybe not high on the cool factor, but high on the natural talent factor… Several years ago, saw Michael Bublé in Las Vegas singing “A Song for You” a cappella. Was beautiful.

I could never pick just one, but this is a strong contender:
