Just this week she's decided she's worried about choosing the "lower ranked" school, even though it's likely the better fit. I'm sure a lot of it is just freaking out about the future, but it's getting ridiculous. Please tell me I'm not the only one dealing with this right now.

tell us where she’s deciding between, and I’m sure we can figure out where she should go!!!

OP here - choices are UMD and Towson.

Is the tuition difference too difficult to afford? If you can afford it I would recommend UMD instead

+1 why is Towson a better fit?

Due to circumstances (not aid), UMD is actually cheaper, but not so much as to be an issue either way. DD's personality is not a go-getter type, and it seems like Towson is probably a bit easier to navigate (in every way). I think she's capable of being successful at UMD, but whether she would really be able to handle it could go either way.

I'd recommend trying Maryland and if it doesn't work out, transfer. Remind her of all the opportunities Maryland has to offer.

They asked early on for us to just let them figure things out (well, we got to drive to admitted student things), have thanked us for not getting on their back, OH BUT I WANT TO

I think now is the time. You gave them x amount of "back free" time, and now they have to make a decision. You really don't want the clock to run out on this. Mine has botched a few things by waiting right up to the last minute and then being too late. (Not college, though. I was on her about that one). Good luck!

Kid never misses deadlines. I'm not worried about that. I just want to know what they picked!

Take her to Maryland Day at UMD this Saturday. If that doesn’t seal the deal, nothing will.

No, because Monday is the due date. The financial aid offices are slammed. Call but don't expect a call back or quick reponse

Wait. Your kid got into Wellesley and is trying to get better aid from MHC? Wellesley admit is amazing! Congrats!!

Not that PP but I get it. My DD looked at both and appreciates many things about Wellesley, including its fabulous location, campus, alumni network, academics, and prestige. But I’m guessing my DD would actually be happier at MHO. But it would be hard to turn down Wellesley.

This is a no-brainer. She should go to college park.

Yes please! Go to UMD. It's rising in the rankings, and Towson will never be anything more than a no-name school.

My son clicked the button this evening (he'd decided some time ago).

He chose the one with the lower general rank, but higher major-specific rank. Price is the same.
