It’s hard not to notice the difference in facilities. Doesn’t mean they don’t like their school. They can just tell FCPS has been short-changing MHS.

They write about it regularly in the school newspaper. The newspaper wins national awards and the Board of Supervisors invites them to a meeting every year to congratulate them. But neither they nor the School Board members pay much attention to what the kids (or the principal) have to say.

I went to McLean and graduated in 2000. It was renovated after I graduated. Everyone needs to relax. Rich kids don't "deserve" this more than any other kid.

See, this is why. Mclean high students are very progressive. Fairfax County should raise tax rate and property value for Mclean residents to satisfy their desire to help poor kids.

No one at McLean is suggesting it get preferential treatment. But when people suggest that McLean be treated similarly to other, newer, less crowded schools that have either got additions outside the renovation queue or much more elaborate renovations, they still get pushback from people who make false assumptions and don’t understand the facts.

I get that anyone can post just about anything they want to on this forum, so that’s fine. It’s also fine if people in the community want to continue to express their concerns, or perhaps more importantly support candidates for local office this fall who aren’t shooting from the hip and have taken the time to educate themselves about the facts and the school’s needs.

People in the district reasonably could have expected FCPS to treat them equitably when it came to school facilities. And the county has been actively encouraging people to move into the district, which includes just under 1/2 of Tysons, for years.
