So much this!! I'd pay a thousand dollars to watch this live.

I’d skip it unless it causes more drama, then I’d go for 30 minutes before needing to be elsewhere.

I’d skip it but explain to brother why.

If you don’t want to go to, don’t go. You have this internet stranger’s permission. Life is too short to spend it uncomfortable around ill mannered people. You were in the wedding for your brother, he is still your brother. You can hang out with him whenever. A one year anniversary party sounds like an excuse for a vapid “look at me, center of attention moment.”

This.

second this. Living well is the best revenge. Fake it if you have to. Wear that dress and rub it in your face.

BTW what did your parents think about the back and forth during the wedding planning?

NP, based on what SIL did to OP I would definitely choose this hill to die on. I do not need to make space for someone like that in my life.

OP isn't that person here.

OP I would 100% NOT go. I mean why put yourself in an uncomfortable position like that?

Best to cancel day off or day b4. Say you have a bad sore throat. Noone can argue with you being ill. Covid taught us that.

I'd skip. No reason to hang around people who suck--like PP's mentioned, it's unlikely this marriage will last, so save yourself the grief of going.

If you do end up going for some reason, be sure to eat an extra slice of cake in front of SIL and her friend. Enjoy every crumb, and then peace out.

Anonymous wrote:OMG, i would be so disappointed in my brother if he married someone like this. Sorry OP. I'm glad he stuck up for you, but WTH? How anyone in your family would expect you to go to this I don't understand.

You don't have to make a stink about it, just have other plans.

You don't need to suck it up to get along for your brother. His wife is awful. I hope this is a troll post because I can't imagine it ever happening in real life. Perhaps disappointment over a dress choice, but un-asking your future SIL? She's a see you next tuesday.

Agree with all of this. Do not go - protect your peace!
