No, just that it was an oval shaped mass on my left breast.
Oval shaped is good. Irregularly shaped is more indicative of cancer. Good luck. I hope everything is benign. But even if it is not, outcomes are very favorable. I went through treatment and am doing great.
They didn’t say whether it had irregular edges, which is what worries me. My doctor warned me that first-time mammograms have higher callbacks because there’s no baseline but I guess I was prepared more for “they need some better images” and not “there’s a mass”. So glad to hear you are doing well!
I have had lumps biopsied that had all the worst qualifiers - irregular, spiculated, hypoechoic, etc. Not malignant after biopsy though. If you had a gyn exam a couple weeks ago this is an even bigger sign to me it may be a small cyst that came up when your hormone cycle shifted. For all you know it’s happened a hundred times, but since this is your first mammogram it’s the first time you’ve known. I would be reassured it wasn’t palpated by your gyn .

I just turned 40 and had my first mammo yesterday and got a call this am that the radiologist saw a mass!! I am going back in a week. I don’t have a family history. Has anyone specifically been told they had a mass and it turned out to be something benign? I’m really scared
Yes - it was a fibrisdenoma.
Same! I’ve had two.
Thanks, this is helpful. I just can’t get over the “radiologist found a mass” - it’s hard for me not to think it will be bad.
It is hard and I’ve been down that path, but keep in mind, breasts are lumpy things anyway and hormones greatly affect the topography of that area. Lumps can come and go and many, MANY are harmless. I have had biopsies and my breasts are fibrocystic so lumps aren’t uncommon for me, so I get the worry, but truly the vast majority are NOT breast cancer.
