I live overseas with the purpose of avoiding any and all contact with my narcissistic borderline parent.

You fly or she flies over every 2.5-3 months per year? I don’t believe that.

Some people are wealthy, dear.

I am wealthy and still do not believe that you and your daughter do that.

I am the person withe the daughter in the UK (not the person with the snide wealthy remark). As I said, sometimes we fly to her and other times she flies to us so that's just twice a year for each of us. I don't see how that is excessive, particularly given that lodging is taken care of.

I was the daughter living overseas (in the UK) for several years and our schedule was much like yours, pp. I talked to my parent pretty much every day and we each traveled to the other 2-3x per year. My spouse talked to his parent a few times a week and visited 1-2x a year.

Now that we are back in the US, we still speak every day and visit 4-6 times a year.

My parents live in Asia. We see them once a year - take turns visiting, but will stay 3-4 weeks at a time.
We facetime every weekend for them to see the kids (elementary age)
I talk to them over the phone once a week sans kids.

Money is not the only factor, dear.

Yes it is

What about time? Assuming people are working…you’re talking about taking time off to travel, time off to spend with each other during the visit and so forth. I’m not saying it’s not possible, because lots of people have plenty of flexibility or portability in their jobs. I’m just agreeing with the PP who said that money is not the only factor. Time is also a factor, generally. Maybe these people have unlimited amounts of both money and time. Wheee!

As a Fulbright scholar, she may have responsibilities that don't allow her to leave her host country. Also, they're a limited term, so it's not like this is a permanent situation.

Yeah, teachers have a lot on their plates

That is sweet, actually.
