Witness the “are boomers ready” thread, wherein the OP talks about how the GOP plans to do away with Social Security and are the boomers ready. Despite quotes from the horses’ own mouths, several gaslighting goobers assure us that no, that’s not what they meant and here’s why we’re silly for thinking the way we do.
The thing is we all watched the GOP steal a Supreme Court seat, we watched them support all the crimes Trump commit, we saw evidence of the party’s treason, of their absolute corruption, their fascism and still people are pretending that the Democrats are the ones too far gone?

If they had kept up the states rights mirage, they might have kept this issue from bleeding into federal elections. Not going to happen now. It will be an issue in every presidential, senate, and house race for the foreseeable future.
And because what remains of the GOP establishment has literally zero control over their base, even if they tried to coalesce over a 'sensible' compromise, there were always be some far right state promoting extreme measures.
