And Moonlighting. I was never able to watch Northern Exposure as a kid and wanted to find it during the pandemic only to learn about all the music issues with old, good shows. I still might do St. Elsewhere.

One thing I remember liking was how thirtysomething portrayed adults' relationships with their parents. Each of the main characters had at least one parent featured in one or more episodes, and they cast really great actors in these roles, and their dialogue was so well-written.

Michael's parents were Barbara Barrie and Steven Hill
Hope's parents were Shirley Knight and Ted Coe
Nancy's mom was Elizabeth Hoffman
Elliot's parents were Eileen Brennan and Eddie Albert
Melissa's parents were Phyllis Newman and Herb Edelman, and her grandmother was memorably played Sylvia Sidney
Gary's mom was Georgann Johnson
Ellyn's mom was Betsy Blair in earlier episodes and Lois Smith later on

My So-Called Life is a great show. Loved that one, too.

Winnie Holzman, who created My So-Called Life and wrote for Thirtysomething, also wrote the book for the musical Wicked. I hope she made a pile of cash off that show.

Same. I was in my early 20s when it came out and, at the time, I thought "get over yourselves already!" Obviously I wasn't their target demographic and I hadn't yet dealt with some of the things the characters in the show were dealing with. But, now that I'm in my 50s, I doubt I'd have any more affinity for those characters than I did back then.
