The CS isn’t as rigorous but there are plenty of ways for your child to find challenges by opting for higher level classes early on (Duke hs lots of curriculum flexibility). My DS says many of his peers are extremely smart and driven too so there won’t be a lack of exposure to interesting ideas and projects just by making friends on campus. Best advice is to visit both and see which one feels like the better fit.
“The CS isn’t as rigorous….”
Once again, why is Duke considered a top ten school?

Duke and Cornell are equal in prestige. In fact, I would give Cornell the edge in prestige

Tomorrow, Ithaca has a chance of snow and a wind chill of 15 degrees, while Durham will be 65 and sunny.
Does Cornell have an edge in CS? Yes it does, but but you have to want the edge over the quality of life.
Both are great schools, just visit again and select and move on.

Duke campus felt like a Hogwarts placed in Disneyland.
