OP here. My child is white. He is often singled out because he is social. And to everyone wondering about him checking the time on his phone, he doesn't know how to read the school clocks (and neither does your kid).
OP - how did your child know what time it was in elementary school BEFORE they had a cell phone? You are winning the most naive parent award today.

My MS child can definitely read the time on an analog clock.
I get why you're annoyed because teachers enforce the policy in a biased manner but if you think your child is targeted because he's "social" that makes me roll my eyes.

My kid absolutely does know how to tell the time. This blows my mind! Your kid got to middle school without learning to tell the time? WTF?!!! And you think that’s normal? Something is very wrong here. Why haven’t you taught him? Does he have a learning disability?
