Being honest: no. That thought never crossed my mind as a parent whose kid entered Sidwell in 9th. Not once.

Now he's at a T15 university and once again, his dating prospects didn't cross my mind even once when we were touring schools and deciding where he should apply.

Sending your kid to whatever private school is the best they can access is absolutely about becoming a member of the Masters of the Universe club, so obviously it’s about who they will marry. Must have the right credentials to be considered acceptable to the rich in laws later on!! But of course *succeeding* in these selective elite institutions is in fact important, so at this age it really is about finding just the right school to maximize individual potential. The rest will follow, to be glowingly recapped in the New York Times Vows section at the appropriate time.

Nope, but it did cross my mind when we sent our son to a particular top 20 university, where he met his now fiancee. Just the type of girl we could ever hope for as a daughter in law.

Admissions gave us an odd look when we asked so waited for shadow day to figure out the scene.

Kids date who kids want. This was 98% rebellion against the WASPY elite culture at the Ivy school.

Worked out 10 years later and their spouse is a Stanford grad but they took the loooong way there!

I didn't think about dating for my kids, but for an additional anecdote - my neighbors are a bunch of young adults (they share the house as renters) and several of them went to Sidwell together and one went to NCS. We love them. I was worried they were going to be rowdy neighbors, but instead they are respectful and do things like bake the kids cookies and always say hello. Two of them are dating each other - so I guess it could happen.
