let the haters hate but tippy top kids are applying (and often rejected) in droves..
Lots of consequential research coming out of there. Lots
yes I’m sure the 100k+ kids who sent in apps all struggled with this point before applying
high brow DCUM strikes again!

Do they even admit any tippy top kids? They seems to prefer the next tier down..

Well, lots of kids want an urban campus and don’t want state school football. And many kids prefer a college that is not affiliated with a religion. Boston is a great town for college students.
It produces great outcomes rivaling many elite schools

It's a great school and a great option.

People also complain NEU admits so many from ED
So yes? Duh
WHY is it first choice though? What does it offer that BC Georgetown Carnegie Mellon or even U Florida do not offer?

My kid (currently a freshman in Boston), was admitted EA last year into the Honors Program with an amazing merit scholarship. He had a 3.98 GPA/4.53 wGPA with an IB Diploma and 5 AP's with a 35 ACT, and very solid EC's with excellent leadership skills (Eagle Scout, 2-year captain of varsity and club hockey teams). He was rejected by UVa (in-state), Williams (legacy), Amherst, Yale, MIT, and Duke, and was admitted to NU, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and JMU. Seems like he might have had a tougher time with NU this year. He is having an excellent experience so far.
Glad to hear! I have heard positive feedback from the Northeastern students I know. It is the vague sour grapes statements (on DCUM) that strike me as odd.
