Subject: Do you think Annandale will ever take off?
I’m not sure what “take off” means exactly. A high percentage increase in home value or demand for the location? I think it’ll appreciate overall like the rest of nova but it’s towards the bottom of the list compared to surrounding areas with similar proximity to DC. There’s no reason that would change soon.

So no, Annandale will not take off anytime soon because no young families want to buy into the school district. this is just a fact.

We didn't look anywhere there when we house hunted - just skipped straight over it to Fairfax and Burke/WS given the schools.

This. And the schools are 100% of the reason why we moved away from Annandale.

which school are you referring to? Is this Annandale HS? If so, there are also two other high schools, Justice and Falls Church. and all this conversation is just about one high school. What about the elementary schools and middle schools? I just think it’s unbelievable that people continue to bash something that they have no personal experience with.
Falls Church HS: 75 drug offenses, 32 behavioral offenses, 35 offenses to students, 5 weapons offenses.
Justice HS: 31 drug offenses, 36 behavioral offenses, 29 offenses to students.
Jeez this just keeps getting better and better. Send your kids to private folks, this is scary.
you took the stats from 2018-2019
2019-2020 was half virtual. 2020-2021 was all virtual. What’s your point? It’s only gotten worse

The original question was - when was Annandale going to take off - this is a discussion of what dragging it down and which direction it's headed. I thought Annandale was mostly Asian (specifically Korean)?
It used to be heavily, heavily Korean but then (I was told) many of them moved out to Centerville and a lot of hispanic immigrants were moving in. But then I heard a lot of the Koreans were moving back - still a ton of Korean businesses in Annandale but unclear whether the owners/employees live in the area or commute in.

Interesting. I live in Centreville and have always been under the impression that Annandale was the main K-Town in Nova, with Centreville having a smaller Korean community.

Um, well, some of us can't afford $1M+ homes? Are you only friends with rich people? We have a $350K+ 40% downpayment to burn and still might be priced out of Burke at the way things are selling even at 6.5-7% rates, but sure we'll check Mclean.
