But I've definitely seen scenes on international flights on other people's screens that made me uncomfortable when I was a child, and make me uncomfortable for today's children now.

This. Also, the boy had a Nintendo and appeared to be occupied so the mom was making a huge fuss for no reason. Also, as everyone knows, if you make a big deal out of something, the kids will want to see/watch it even more. Mom handled it poorly.
