I use gloves when I'm chopping hot peppers. That's it.

Never occurred to me to put on gloves to touch meat. I just wash really well afterward.

No, I just wash my hands at home unless I have a cut on a hand or something. You don't need to wear gloves OP, just wash hands.

No, I don't go through gloves as I prep and cook. I do not have OCD or any other mental disorders. I do wash my hands frequently and avoid cross contamination through things like different cutting boards for produce and meat.

I never touch raw meat without gloves. I think it's hilarious that these people on here are giving you a hard time how many plastic diapers have they all used? Me? No kids so I'm free to use all the gloves I want. Also these same ladies probably still use body wash in a nice large plastic bottle but they want to condemn you.

I really don’t worry about microplastics from latex gloves.

OP can ask if one uses gloves, but not asking for unprofessional advice about therapy or anything else.

The Chairborne rangers who think they are behaviorial experts is out of control.
OP reads like a yes or no question to me.

You don’t get to choose how people respond. If you ask how many people are doing the ridiculous thing you are doing, people are going o say they aren’t doing it at all, because it is ridiculous.

It seems like this phobia is having a big impact on your life. The more you cater to it the worse it will get, unfortunately. You need to work with a therapist who specializes in ocd and who can help you gradually through exposure therapy. You don’t have to live like a prisoner to your anxieties.

OP, we do use gloves on occasion but it’s when we plan to serve food to a large crowd. So when cutting up the ribs or whatever it is, we use one set of gloves for cooked food people are about to eat. I would never use them on a daily basis, I try very hard to limit single use plastics and this is incredibly wasteful.

I know you’re not a professional, but for what it’s worth in terms of food safety, you should be washing your hands every time you change gloves.

OP is posting on a public board. They are *literally* asking for comments from the peanut gallery.

Nope. Only gloves when i am using oven cleaner and those are reusable. I wash my hands after touching raw meat.

I only use gloves when mixing meatloaf or unwrapping/cutting large hunks of meat (e.g., cutting a whole pork loin in half or unwrapping a pork shoulder, both of which are really messy). I think that’s reasonable.
