My kids go to Basis. Number 1 school in DC area for academics. You will have all your kids wishing they could get in in the next few years. I’m sure they will end up being more selective than all of your “Big 3” schools as they decline in academic quality and spend their time on Wokeness as an academic focus rather than academic subjects. Send info my kids to school to learn academics, not be taught about social justice, white fragility, defund police…….and that being a Caucasian is the root causes of everting evil in this country. Was not even born here and am South Asian.

No need to make this about race. There is nothing wrong with Basis. It’s the perfect spot if your kid was rejected from TJ. That’s just not what many of us are looking for.

Most people at DC privates are not even considering a school like Basis. They are selecting private for so many reasons and Basis does not offer that. I am glad you are happy there.

2 of them. Episcopal and Woodberry Forest, then Asheville in NC, and another in Tennessee

We started the process with Sidwell but felt that that weren't really trying to get to know us, so we ended up not submitting a full application. Comparing their process to GDS and others was very much off-putting. In retrospect, it was the wrong decision. GDS and Sidwell are amazing schools however we're incredibly pleased with our process and looking forward to this next journey.

Sidwell is arguably one of the best schools if not the best school in the United States. You should be thrilled!!!

I was p’d off last year, after getting waitlisted at 4 schools. This year we applied to 7 day schools and 4 boarding schools. The boarding school decisions haven’t come out yet. We got in 1 day school, rejected at 1, and waitlisted at 5.
This year I was less optimistic, prepared to not be admitted anywhere, and possibly have to stay public. The application process was too exhausting and I am glad I don’t have to do this anymore.
My advice is to consider some schools in the future you normally wouldn’t, unless you are content in your local public.

DD got into 5 schools including DD's 1st choice and was waitlisted at 3. Applied for 7 of what we felt were the top independents (although not Sidwell) and 1 safe schools. Our first choice was GDS (got waitlisted) but we are very thrilled with our results and will enroll into DD's 1st choice.

I don't think any school, not even GDS with its enrollment constraints, would be presumptuous enough to assume a 100% yield.
