A big reason we sent our kids to private school was the sense of community and it still makes the kid smile when they see a car driving around with a bumper magnet from their school. I have a magnet from my home state too and my college (which is not elite). I like the community feel. But I wear T shirts/sweatshirts from my college as well from time to time.
+1
Driving cross country or up to NH we often will see the magnet and always look to see if we know them.

Maybe you've seen my driving back and forth to NASA Goddard.

+1 I don't do yard signs either.
Anonymous wrote:No. I briefly put them on the car but took it down for privacy and security reasons. I don’t want people seeing the magnet on our car outside our house and targeting us for theft because they assume we are wealthy due to kids in private school. In 2021, we had someone break into our car (with the magnet) in our driveway and I realized it was a risk.
I also don’t want strangers to know where my kids go to school. DH is a CEO who makes a lot of hiring and firing decisions. I don’t need a disgruntled former employee trying to target our family. (The Mansion Murders case in DC still gives me nightmares.)
