It doesn't make a difference a SWW since the cutoff was almost 4.0, but the footnote infuriates me.

Homogenizing a C and D and pretending like both "demonstrated proficiency" illustrates the degree to which DCPS is just passing kids along in the system and setting them up for failure.

NP and I agree with you. That’s for a whole other thread though. The grading policy in DCPS really demonstrates shockingly low expectations. A high school diploma means nothing in terms of proficiency in the basics like math and reading. We are a city that graduates illiterate teenagers. It’s really sad and unfair to them.

Thank you that’s very helpful. Do they use all final MS grades from 6-7th grades and part of 8th or just 7th?

They asked for 7th grade report card and first grading period eight. Not sure how they used it — if you are applying for next year, I’m sure you could ask at an open house? I also wonder if they don’t try something else next year, if the cut off really was a 4.0 this year.

yes, what happens with them?

I know that GDS (for example) does not give grades in middle school. They have some sort of ranking of "low pass, pass, high pass" (not sure of exact phrasing) for 6th through 8th grades.

It’s not that hard to calculate a GPA. It’s basic math.

The GPA has always been the case and DCPS has not calculated it, in any recent years. High schools do calculate it, so its really not that hard to do.
