FYI they're never going to be released because it's a flawed test and they just realized that the scores are meaningless.
That's what I heard from a friend of mine who works in the central office. The state finally realized the test was so broken that they tossed it.
Why are they taking it again right now then?
So if the results are abysmal because our either the curriculum sucks or our kids are performing below grade level that means the test was bad? Hmmm.. got it.

Put it in the shredder. They are useless.

Anonymous wrote:MCAP test are useful to see where your child stands. Please understand that letter grades are so subjective. Teachers have the luxury of giving a child any letter grade, at their discretion. MCAP, teachers are not able to see the test, the questions, answers, etc. Teachers therefore, can not just “teach for the test.” The test is compromised of skills and standards from that year. How well can your child apply what she or he has learned and apply it to an unknown text or equation? It is just one data point to see how well your child is truly doing. It really does not take up much instruction time at all to give the test. In the real world, we are judged and based on our performance. The same is true for students. A student is not consistently doing well on multiple various assessments compared to their peers across multiple years? Time to asses for a 504 or IEP. A student doing very well across multiple assessments through various years? Time to evaluate for TAG. Take it as another data point, something positive, instead of negative.

Anonymous wrote:Would last year's 3rd graders (in 4th grade now) who took the test also get results sent (either via Parentvue or snailmail)? I understand it's moreso a requirement for 4th and 5th graders, but wanted to check, since nearly a month of 3rd grade went into MCAP testing last year.

This week I received my 10th grader’s score from 9th grade life science.
Me, too! Not useful information. I have no idea how they are going to convert this to 20% of grade in future years. They need to adjust the Maryland Blueprint
or simply invest in a reliable and meaningful test
The NYS Regents exams?
