Ive never been a fan of Elrich for many reasons, but with this council he is at least occasionally the adult in the room. We could do a lot worse, which is scary.

Yeah. They love to come here to fix your plumbing and then go back yo their home in VA where their job is located and where they pay taxes.

I literally see them parked at the park all the time. It's kind of weird. Doesn't VA have rec leagues for people? Why are people in Virginia always traveling to MD?

For more average folk, NOVA is so much nicer and schools are generally safer too.

People who don't even in live in Montgomery County sure are obsessed with Montgomery County.

I have lived in both. I thought the traffic was worse in VA but it could have been just where I lived. I think they are very similar. I did not have kids in VA but mine did very well in Rockville schools.

+100.

Salty MoCo residents. Moco is a has been and isn't even the main driver of making jobs in MD anymore: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/md-politics/prince-georges-has-overtaken-montgomery-as-top-job-creator-in-maryland-suburbs/2020/01/19/218c3646-38b6-11ea-bf30-ad313e4ec754_story.html

Not hard.

MOCO is a fantastic place we are very lucky to live here and not VA.

Our voters were not fooled by COX that fool and other Republicans. Virginians well they were stupid to vote in Youngkin.

Either way OP you don't like it here stop complaining and move. We don't want people like you here anyway.

Go MOCO

Love it or leave it? Seems familiar….lol. A real Team America.

Listen, this all reminds me of a certain subset of of Hillary Clinton supporters (and I was one) way back in 2016. Anyone that questioned how her campaign was run or the messaging being put out was basically told, we don’t care what you think, we don’t need your votes. GTFO.

Reminder - she needed those votes.

You can act as childish and smug as you’d like about it, but people will leave, and they will be the ones that pay the most in taxes. The schools will continue to decline. There will be fewer jobs to attract new people. That’s what the thread was about anyway…the loss in jobs, and the fact that the county is in a worse position than it was back when Amazon passed on MoCo.

If anyone really thought that MoCo was in a great position all of these threads would be DOA and not full of defensive posts.

Where are all of the threads from MoCo folks that are written for no other reason than to denigrate NoVa? Oh, that’s right…

One of those high schools is in North Bethesda, and the other one is in Gaithersburg. But I guess both of them are in the general Rockville area. This looks promising too: https://www.mymcmedia.org/elrich-umd-leaders-announce-new-research-institute-in-north-bethesda/

That’s just the county paying free rent for UMD to locate some jobs at Pike & Rose. If the county and state wanted to do something transformative, they should build a new UMD health sciences campus, including medical school, at White Flint.

There's no good news about Montgomery County that somebody on DCUM won't immediately explain is actually terrible news.

Tell me the good news! Another one bites the dust.

Why on earth would any county executive let jobs like these walk out the door is beyond me. Doug Duncan - do you have a son or daughter?

It’s okay. We don’t need jobs when we’ve got “urbanism” and “15 minute living”.

But I thought we weren't supposed to hand out money for jobs? Or is it good to hand out money for jobs when we're not doing it, but bad to hand out money for jobs when we are doing it?

You don’t need to negotiate handouts to every individual business when you have a business environment that supports job growth. That’s a losers game.
