It is like something right out of The Handmaids Tale

My husband decided that all bodily expulsions of gas should merit a “bless you”, so that’s how the kids were raised. 🙄😂

Definitely doesn’t meet etiquette standards…

You could accidentally convert someone to religion. It's not worth the risk!

It annoys the he** out of me when people react negatively to small things that make people happy, which is so pervasive on this forum. If you want to leave your holiday lights up until March, use the word “hubby”, refer to your pets as your babies, etc. - I do not give a F. Enjoy your life! It’s very short.

I say bless you. Please don’t think I’m saying it because I think your soul has left your body, LOL!

So what is the purpose of you saying “god bless you” to me?

I say “bless you” - not God bless you. What’s the purpose? I don’t know! It’s a habit. And it doesn’t hurt to wish a stranger well in this depraved world where everyone is bitter with a chip on their shoulder. That’s how I look at it- wishing a stranger well.

I'd really hate to be so miserable in life to find offense with someone wishing me well. It has nothing to you with your belief in God, but it does in theirs. THEY want THEIR God to protect you. If you can't see that as a nice act, there is no hope for you.

I’m not saying don’t say it to me; I’m saying don’t get offended when I don’t say it to you. I’m not Catholic and I’m not going to bless you. Dang, Catholics don’t even allow women to be priests, so there’s that too, lol.

OP posted about someone saying it to her. Has anyone ever asked you in real life or here why you don’t say “bless you?” No? Because no one cares. It’s one of those things that no one notices if you say it or if you don’t. If this is OPs gripe for the day, she has way too much time and mental energy to expand on non issues.
