Republicans attack on Federal workers are just following the lead from Bowser and Holmes-Norton

Really? Because the Republicans want to gut federal agencies and move what's left out of DC. I have NEVER seen Bowser or Holmes-Norton promote anything like that.

Moving Federal agencies out of DC is a side issue, but both have in the past favored the FBI moving out of their downtown HQ.

In terms of the current attacks, both have attacked Federal workers for not returning to work in person and Holmes-Norton even endorsed the Republican sponsored bill that would require them to do so.

Yeah we need to be forced back into our offices downtown so that restauranteurs can sell us a mediocre sandwich for $17

This 1000+. I am sorry for them, but I am also sorry for all the mom and pop dry cleaners out there who have gone under because no one dresses up for work when teleworking. And sorry for all the waitstaff out of work because of the increases in take out and delivery.

It's all part of the creative destruction of a dynamic economy, and it's not going back to the way it was, ever. Like everyone, they must adapt to the new reality.

Dry leaning is absolutely horrible for the environment!

So is commuting, which is overwhelmingly done by car in D.C.

And wait-staff typically deliver meat dishes; everyone knows meat as protein is destroying our environment.

Yep. Things constantly change. I don't see many people shedding tears these days about how all of the horse liveries went under when people stopped coming into town on horseback for work. Nor the switchboard operators...

I'm sorry that you're nervous about losing your fed benefits and salary.

Mayor Bowser is the one waging war on federal workers. She is trying to end work-from-home policies.

She’s a democrat, I believe.

I mean the Republicans started with replacing feds with cheaper contractors. Now they get leaks. They know what they're doing

Contractors were supposed to be cheaper but they end up costing the government a crapload of money. And it's scary that we have a whole lot of major national programs that are now only one or two feds deep, the rest is all contractor staff who may or may not get rebadged every time that contract expires. Government is losing all of the institutional and technical and other knowledge that it needs to have in-house.

Yes, it is a deep problem.

Need to backfill lost federal positions. It's bizarre that Republicans think government needs to be cut, cut, cut when our population, or economy, the complexity of modern society and technology, and number of issues needing governance have grown, grown, grown. Republicans are so full of backward notions that defy logic and reality. In many departments feds are already laid so bare that they wouldn't even have enough capabilities to automate or help augment themselves by standing up customer service chatbots.
