OP, what exactly are you contemplating - what commitment are you talking about? And will it be year round or seasonal? Are you worried about a time conflict with the middle school sport or other classes? Or really only homework? Middle school lets out early, and there should be plenty of time.

I wish middle was more rigorous but my kids have nice friends so I don't want to move and I don't want to spend $90K a year on private. We supplement at home (RSM, weekly writing assignments). It works for our family but just exacerbates the achievement gap, which is supposedly what our schools principal is trying to avoid.
