Do they want big or small?
What do they want to study?
WVU
ASU
U of SC
SUNY —Buffalo not Binghamton
Ursinus
Utica
Clark — maybe
Susquehanna
Muhlenberg
Juniata
Kalamazoo—maybe
NEU—full pay will help and your kid could be accepted to a side program where the GPA doesn’t affect the school’s rankings
Eckerd, if marine biology desired
Hollins, if female
If female: Mount Holyoke or Bryan Mawr—full pay will help
Others: UNH, U Maine, U Rhode Island, U Mass Amherst
I included a mix of large and small.

Let's assume no hook, or small hook. Full pay (no FA or scholarship needed.) Will probably write a strong essay, but not astonishingly good. What are typical target schools for this kind of student? Thank you!
Lol
Full pay is a huge hook. 😂😂

SLACs in particular are very familiar with these schools and admit their students. People saying no way just aren’t familiar with the admission patterns from those schools.

Actually, I think it’s you who are not familiar with admissions patterns in the last three years. Students with B averages and high test scores from top DC privates are definitely not getting in these schools this year - I know parents who are stressed because their smart, B students have been deferred or rejected from many schools less competitive than the ones discussed on this thread. Hopefully things will look different in 6 weeks, but even then the kids described on this thread are not getting in to Hamilton or Bates without some other hook.
