If you are a major donor by Sidwell standards then a $5,0000 deposit is chump change right? If it was only $1000 before that seems very low compared to other schools. And don't you get it back if you change your mind before June 1?


PP you are responding to here. The issue is the school’s administrative competence (or incompetence), in rolling out a change that impacts all families. The issue is not my personal finances or self-interest. On your last question, enrollment deposits are not refundable.

Why would you do this? Were a lot of people paying the deposit and ultimately going elsewhere? Seems unlikely.

New poster to this thread. Changing the enrollment deposit from $1,000 to more than $5,000 and not communicating that change to parents is unquestionably a big deal. And designing a communications plan and failing to implement it is hard to explain, other than demonstrating that the school’s admin is just so incompetent.

I don’t get it. My children are at the cathedral schools and we always had to pay a deposit with the contract. It just carries over every year. I think deposits are the norm? I think for financial aid families they do it based on the amount of aid you get it but I’m not sure but paying a deposit seems pretty normal to me.
