Question about virtual Virginia, if your kid has a sleepaway camp during one of the weeks, is that an issue? Meaning are they able to log the time they spent doing physical activity when theh return; or is there typically some sort of requirement to have to login every day? This is only a three day sports camp, and I would hate to cancel it.

When mine did VV PE10, the rule ws no more than 90 (120?) minutes could be one activity EACH WEEK. So, if your kid is a swimmer, the coach can only sign off on the allowed number of minutes each week. THe other 60 (30?) had to be something else. It could be walking with a pedometer or strength training. It was no big deal.

What does this mean? How does this impacts kids in the arts (not being contrary, I just dont understand).


It’s often hard for kids who want to do IB or AP sciences (which require 2 blocks) to get in all the requirements and take band or chorus all 4 years. Summer PE is a way to get back a block or two for music. And FCPS allows it as does LCPS. So there will be a lot of complaints if APS doesn’t. Starting with me. 😀


One thing about Loudoun is that they don't allow using Virtual Virginia for PE... you have to use Virtual Loudoun which based on everything I've heard is a TON more work than what the OP has described for Virtual Virginia.

There's a difference between PE 9 and PE 10.

Swanson and Yorktown counselors indicated to my kid that VV was acceptable and previous responder to this thread said they heard that from APS summer school VV is acceptable. Which makes sense. VV is generally acceptable so why would they single out PE and say they don't take it?

It is more work for the counselor to deal with VV so don't know the situation, but maybe they are putting you off due to that.

I was told by the WMS counselor that they would only accept APS summer school, not VV PE. Vv works with my kid’s schedule. APS does not. Is there no clear answer here? This seems so silly that different folks are getting different answers.

I emailed APS summer school office and asked. This was the response:

Good morning,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. Yes, students can sign-up to take HPE I through Virtual Virginia. this upcoming summer.
