Ive been on Ozempic since October. Lost 45 lbs so far and I have that many more to go.

The first 2-3 months were horrendous. Constant nausea, my BP tanked (I was also taking BP meds at the time but don't any more), I had the worst brain fog and even vision issues. Now all of that went away and now I only have issues if I overeat which I did yesterday and paid for it all evening. I'm glad to see that most people don't have the same side effect that I did because I almost quit the drug.

35 pounds since July


22 pounds since Thanksgiving. No side effects but that doesn't mean other people aren't being accurate when describing theirs. It's been great for me as I've been morbidly obese for 15 years.

The source was my physician, but yes there are articles that reference benign pancreatic cysts

Interesting, this surprises me. $1200 per month for the drug indefinitely is much more costly than a one time $15,000-$25,000 surgery

Yes and i would think you need regular bloodwork every three months to check your kidney functioning, you can be having a serious kidney issue but not feel it, I did when I was on metformi n

Acute pancreatitis is also a concern. Your doctor should check your triglycerides before prescribing this drug.

My sister had barbaric sleeve surgery last year and lost about 80 pounds. (This is the only obesity treatment that matches the success rate of these drugs). She's doing really well but is honest about the challenges (loss of pleasure in food, vitamin regime for life,etc). She related that now insurance companies will want you to try these drugs before approving the surgery so it's interesting how the field is evolving.

There are a number of studies now ongoing in real time to explore the risks further and there will continue to be over the years. Obviously obesity carries risks for pancreatic, cardiac issues, etc so like most things, it is a cost benefit analysis to make with your physician... and the data will evolve. You have to be willing to live with the unknowns to a certain degree I think.

My obese friend is on ozempic and arguably needs the drug for health reasons.

I think she’s going to be on the drug for life if she wants to keep the weight based on the articles I’ve read about it.

I personally would never take it electively. I’m not into drugs unless you absolutely need them, which arguably my friend does.

My doctor was clear that nausea etc are normal but pain is not. Pain indicates something like pancreatitis might be happening and she said that is not something to muscle through.

I’ve gained 4 pounds in a month. Just moved up to 0.5, still no side effects or appetite suppression. Basically feels like I haven’t even taken the drug. Planning to switch to Mounjaro, if this continues. I’m diabetic so hopefully at least my a1c is going down.
