NP. I have had the flu and Covid. Covid gave me heart problems, the flu did not. Just because you didn’t have a problem with Covid, doesn’t mean others didn’t. You can’t possibly be that self-centered.

Are you saying because Covid gave you heart problems, it was ok to shut down schools? In a healthy society we sacrifice adults to protect children, not the other way around.

Because I'd rather see the U.S. become more like Europe with a real and robust social safety net. Because I'd like to see us actually become great again and not worry as much about our kids falling out of the middle class due to bad luck or bad outcomes. I'm fine with being taxed more if I know it's going to better the country and not simply to line the pockets of corrupted defense contractors or the 0.1%.

That is if they can't get all the poor kids zoned elsewhere. Remember how well a homeless shelter in Ward 3 was received? Why aren't there day-laborer centers near all the houses they end up working in? All these things are fine for other people.

If the rich couldn't isolate themselves from the consequences of their policies, they wouldn't vote Democrat anymore.

So you are ascribing an entire population to a handful of NIMBYs who also fought a grocery store and other new development in the area. 3 years later, the facility is open and has been zero issue, just like everything else those people opposed.
