During the GWBush administration they used to talk of a “permanent Republican majority”. Then the Iraq war turned into a quagmire, Katrina happened and all of that was followed by the Global Financial Crisis.

He is done, unless he runs for his community HOA. He needs to relax and enjoy his family, think about volunteering, playing golf. He will not be elected President because Democrats saw him support dumb Republican things, and the Republicans definitely won't vote for him because he condemned Trump.

This is generally true, IMO. The caveat I would add is that MAGA won’t vote for him OVER TRUMP. If Trump were hit by a bus tomorrow, Hogan would be vastly more viable nationally. So he has to wait and likely his window, such as it is, will close. There are a large number of conservative candidates in this position: people who would have a shot against DeSantis, but no chance against Trump.
He wouldn't be a viable Republican candidate even if the former guy ascended into heaven tomorrow.
The former guy ain’t doing any ascending to any heaven. The Devil is making up his cell down there for sure. Maybe his roommate will be Kim Jong Un?
