I love Subaru, but at that price point lots of those vehicles have major issues like transmission and engine failures. And 4wd just means that there are more parts to wear out/break. OP, you can't go wrong with a Corolla with under 150k miles. I would try to buy from a private party, but it's slim pickings, as everyone is selling to dealerships or Carmax.

It was about a year ago so I don’t remember exactly—maybe 120K? Not ideal but it was a rushed buy after the vehicle he had been driving (our old 2011 sienna) was totaled and he needed a vehicle. I found the listing on FB marketplace. We did take it to the Toyota dealer for a thorough inspection before buying.
