Wonder if that would have happened if they weren't under attack for not recognizing some students for their "commended" status on the PSATs. The finalist, not surprisingly, was a National Merit Semifinalist, but I do wonder if the controversy has FCPS making sure it recognizes students now when there's a good opportunity to do so.

Mclean HS has always recognized student accomplishments.

It’s private and costs a fortune of course. If my kid were hot housed as a toddler, in a private school with all the resources, private lessons galore, I’m sure he could also win the competitions. But alas.
This is like 40 kids in the entire country.
Who had access to resources 99% of 12th grades don’t.
