The only thing I know, is if they are recruited.

Not true. We were admitted to 3 top schools at first round with generous FA at all.

Maybe I’ll remember to update this thread in early March to see if I was right! 😉

Good luck. I’ll bet you are mistaken about the tone . I will check back too and let you know if our “you’re a good fit” statement meant anything. I should probably stop checking this thread though because it is stressing me out! 😂

Wow. We applied to four schools for middle and not one asked if we would accept if we got an offer and we didn’t get letters from any of the schools after the shadow day. Now I’m getting bummed! We are coming from public so I feel like we are at a disadvantage.

Don’t read into it. Schools differ in how much they reach out. PPs have said their dcs were admitted with no “signs” or extra contact from the schools.

Which grade are you applying for?

4th

Where did she get in and attended?

She went to Holton through 9th is now at another school. She told Sidwell that it was difficult to make a judgement about the school since she never saw the school when school was in session and did not know what the kids were like.

Oh no. One of the schools sent DC a note after the interview saying DC seemed like a good fit for the school and that a teacher from shadow day said great things about DC. Now I man kind of bummed that it might not have meant anything.

It means nothing until you get an official acceptance. There are a lot of good fits for schools with not enough space for all. Good luck to your DC

They ask everyone that Q.

Not true. Who asks this question???

Do you know why they ask this question?

They want to get a sense of how likely you are to accept an offer of admittance if tendered.

Sometimes they ask it directly. Sometimes they ask for other schools you applied to.

If you don't tell them, they make their own judgement based on experience.

We heard similar from an AD at one school and it immediately put me on edge. I will be very surprised if DC is admitted. It would have been kinder to just keep such comments to herself.

Why did it put you on edge? It might not mean that much as far as hinting at an admit, but I don’t think it could mean anything negative.
