No, DC privates ONLY mean those schools that are located in Washington, DC. Potomac, Landon, Holton, etc are NOT DC privates. Period.

At the risk of stating the obvious, my kid never would have known that I had the swag if they hadn't gotten in. They actually wanted to keep (and did) one of the other choices just for giggles (and mind you, they did not get into their second choice).

I've been through this 3 times. You have to wait until March 3.

We don’t have a clear top choice or ranking of the schools. That kind of stresses me out a little but I guess it’s good that my dd liked all her shadow days.

No actually I think this is weird. What if they hadn't been accepted? What would you have done, returned it?

First notification was Ravenna (at around 3pm), followed by a personal email shortly after 4. They then received a small package the next day with a handwritten "congrats" from the AD and minor swag (tumbler and car magnet, I think). I had already purchased swag from each of the schools to which they applied just in case they were accepted, so I had a hoodie and hat in hand to toss their way.

Are EVER there ANY indicators whatsoever at the pr-k and or the k levels?

It isn't a pre-school thing. Upper schools will invite applicants to things like plays, music events, sports games, etc. as another piece of getting to know the school. A few high schools have "interest events" for recruiting, like a sports day or honors days, etc. The latter two invitations tend to be a good indication of acceptance. The prior ones are similar to open house invitations. More often these types of invitations come after admission and while wooing the accepted students.
