I've been watching Astrid on PBS. It's great. There are two seasons now.
I enjoyed The Recruit on Netflix. It's not even my thing, but it was humorous and involving.
My DS has ADHD and we're trying to teach him to drive, so yeah, stress. No worries, he's not hitting the road by himself until he's safe.

Are you me, OP? I love this post, because I am looking for the same thing. Here are ones I watched.

Crash Landing on You (like another PP, this and Offspring were my favorites- I was sad when those both ended. For Crash Landing, it does have subtitles, so I held off a long time, but once you get used to them this is an amazing show. Give it a few episodes. I even got DH to watch this with me)

+1 on Ghosts (but only the British version not the American one)

Don’t know Hustle but it reminded of outlaws— a British show about a bunch of people thrown together to do community service for minor crimes— it’s good.

For a true escape, consider watching Showtime's Your Honor with Bryan Cranston or Breaking Bad.

If you like British shows, Ghosts on HBO is good, cheesy fun. This couple inherited a huge old house filled with ghosts who don’t want them to renovate it.

Hustle on Tubi (free streaming service) is also good, mindless entertainment. It’s about a group of con artists in London. They show enough of a conscience that you’ll feel okay rooting them on. A lot of the plots are a bit unbelievable if you think about them too hard, but they are emotionally satisfying. A lot of revenge against a-holes.
