What are you going to do about the games and other accessories? We’ve spent at least $1000 on a Switch over the years. The console. The games. The pro controllers. The extra joycons so we could all play. Amiibos. Downloads. Whatever. Be sure about what you are signing up for. It’s not just the console.
It’s probably a PS5 the kid wants, but you don’t need to spend anywhere NEAR $1,000 for a Switch. Buy a memory card and buy the deeply discounted sale games (there are hundreds every week, including many popular franchises, and the sales are often 75-90% off. The exceptions are things like the most popular Mario/Zelda games — buy those physical on Black Friday) You don’t need $60 Pro Controllers and Amiibo are a totally gratuitous waste of money.

Kids don’t want “older versions.” They want to play the new games on the new system.

I wouldn't trust an 11 year old because even if your dog is friendly that's a lot of responsibility if the dog gets away or a dog comes up to your dog and starts a fight.
