He’s got a prominent conservative wife and 5 daughters. The stakes are really high for his family.

I think that's too limited a view. There's nothing wrong with being LGBTQIA+ (not that you were implying that there was) but a lot of Republicans are also pedophiles, domestic abusers and rapists.
