only an average of about 350 people per day. But hey - they don't count.

for folks vacinated and boosted, covid is just a cold. inconvenient yes, but no more so than pink eye, lice, strep, common colds, that are getting passed around elem kids everyday all the time.

350 vaccinated people are dying each day because elementary school kids are eating lunch indoors?

I have 2 SILs who are fully vaccinated and both were in the emergency room in December due to COVID. The current strain is nothing to joke about.
One is a public school teacher who has her 85 year old mom who lives with her who is not in good health.

Why can't we understand that not everyone has the same situation.

The point is that if they are not masking inside the school, then eating outside is not offering any additional protections.

Exactly this. If you need outdoor lunch, you need masking. Outdoor lunch was originally because kids had to remove masks at lunch time. There are now no masks to remove. Outdoor lunch is insane in that context.

Like with most initiatives led by that principal, its performative and ineffective. You'll get nowhere with complaining to her.

I just think this is darkly hilarious. So when temps go below 40 will they make the kids eat lunch outside but do indoor recess?

I would contact the instructional superintendent and see if you can get a group of parents together to advocate.

So thankful we left that NW school. The neuroticism is astounding.

DCB is virtual in Jan, KIPP extending break. Everywhere else in the united states may be done but apparently not DC. It.is.maddening.

Wait what? What is the justification?

OP here- nope no masking mandates at the school, yet they somehow think eating outdoors will ward off all illness spread. DD said kids were crying yesterday asking to eat indoors but they were told there’s no one to watch them. I certainly don’t blame the teachers, they are just following orders.
