We take a lot of classes, walk and hike a lot, spend time with our grandkids, and we’ve started to travel a bit as Covid eases and intend to travel a lot more in the coming years. We really enjoy being together and it is like a second honeymoon for us. The sacrifices of our working years have definitely been worthwhile in our estimation.

That is an odd detail to include.

I don’t think it’s odd at all. This is what the couple does. Sex can be important to a couple. My feeling is that over the course of a marriage and a lifetime, sex deepens and tightens a relationship. It can be one part of the web that holds couples closely together. Sex can be good physically and emotionally. The fact that the poster mentions it seems to show an existing closeness (maybe even a certain friskiness as the couple ages…good for them!). I would think that every loving couple aspires to an intellectual, an emotional and, if their health allows, a physical connection. This makes very good sense to me and I admit I hope I, too, can be there someday.

I am not having sex with my grown ass dh twice a day now and I'm sure not going to in retirement. JFC, too much work.

Well, that’s you, and that is fine for you. I like having sex with my husband now that we’re retired, and I’m very happy that we’re both healthy enough to enjoy it together. We both worked hard all our lives, reared our children, and now we can have fun together.

My mom does 1 errand day (goes to Walgreens to pickup a prescription) and claims to be too busy the rest of the day with her Silver Sneakers class, early bird dinner, Wheel of Fortyne/Jeopardy, then some general tidying up and then Blue Blood to cap off the night.

Obviously a Mae. Pathetically proclaiming that he is still getting some.

Hmm, interesting that you thought that a man posted this. Actually, I’m a woman. My husband and I have been married a very long time and we enjoy each other’s company in every way. Again, I don’t see anything odd about that.

There isn’t anything odd about it. Sounds lovely to me, and very similar to what I hope/expect DH and I will be doing when we retire in a few years at 60.

He goes to the grocery store every day and cooks a nice dinner each night. He sits on the deck and watches his grandkids play before giving them whatever treat they’ve requested from him. He goes to a different doctor each week.

Does he live with you?

Why is that odd? The OP asked about what our days look like in retirement. This is what we typically do each day. We like our retirement days, what can I say?

I am so sorry. I pray you find strength to spend the remaining time with your beloved wife in peace. I hope you are able to recount the wonderful memories you shared together, especially on your RV trip. As you probably already know, the RV community can be very supportive and may be helpful if you choose to travel again.

Did I mention sex?
