This is the answer. Those cookies are a taste of heaven.

Yes, and the chocolate salty oat cookies are even better (in my opinion).
Also - Hippie Crack from Baked and Wired. Best. Granola. Ever.

Just forget the DC theme and bring them a nice basket of specialty foods like cheese, crackers, jam, olives, shortbread, nuts, and wine. Trader Joes is a good place to start.

+1 they don’t care that you’re excited to live in DC.

This is my go-to. I get a pound of one of the blends with a DC themed name, i.e. Capital City Roast, Monuments After Dark, etc., and a bag of their chocolate covered espresso beans. Looks like they actually have a gift box option for that this year:

Or you could just take a 30 pack of Bush Light if you wanted them to actually enjoy it.

Get them a few jars of DC of Tap Water from Busboys! And since you’ll need a cooler for that head over to BK Miller and get a pack of Mangers half smokes, write up the chili recipe from Ben’s. Six pack of your favorite local beer. Also love the map dish towels.

Do NOT bring New Yorkers bagels. Ever.

Is this applicable to any part of Upstate NY?

Those are from Maryland. DC doesn’t really have anything.
