Yep- I’m not sure where the contact started but she has been communicating with him through the Telegram app even though she has an iPhone- ding ding ding there is another red flag. It’s one of those things like why wouldn’t she use iMessage, FaceTime? Yes I will be asking him to delete the app too.

Honestly OP if this has been going on for a while, he’s already sending money. They don’t work for free. He just won’t tell you about it. You’re in a really tough spot. I don’t know what the right thing to do is, but you can assume he’s already sent money.

Because OP hasn’t taken 30 seconds to block the number for some reason.

I was talking to an older man who had this happen with a fake younger woman. He thought she was interested in him, she sent some fake edited photos. After several weeks, she got “robbed” and asked for money. He didn’t send it, but I was shocked that he thought this was a real person.

And get you on his accounts so you can stop any money transfers before too much is lost, if he is falling for this and refuses to stop.

I have NO idea. In the off chance that (which is obviously 0%) that there is a reasonable explanation for every weird thing or inconsistency.

It’s time to put his money in a trust.

Most likely, "she" will tell him she needs money for some reason and convince him to wire transfer it and/or buy gift cards and give her the numbers online.

Or, she will send him a link that gives her access to his computer and then ask him to sign on to banking/investment sites so she can capture the password.

He needs to stop engaging with her immediately. And you need to find out why he's so lonely this would work on him.

I was 50 and dating a 68 yo I met online. It was sincere and worked out for about nine months until I decided the age difference is too great and I don’t want to be old and alone after taking care of him.

He'll she where "she" is although lots of these scammers use VPN software.
