Girls usually lack the necessary aptitude (spacial ability etc.) and do not want to do the heavy lifting so they tend to stay away from clubs that require lot of time and effort. They gravitate towards tutoring, coding for women, cultural activities etc.
Girls are in other STEM clubs, but not this one, because girls lack SPACIAL ability.

It is not an all male club since there is one female also.
The reason that there are not many women in STEM is because the majority culture (White culture) that has the maximum resources available to them mainly value girls for looks. As a result, it is more likely for White teenage girls to be in non-STEM programs than in STEM programs. Asians of the same SES on the other hand will encourage their daughters to get into STEM field because a) barrier to entry is higher and b) education is priortized over looks and c) it provides them with some guaranteed financial security to have a better life.
However, Asian-American female students cannot make up for the lack of interest of other groups. The reason there are so few women in STEM is because Asian-Americans are a tiny minority in US. I hope this answers your question.

It’s an activity kids sign up for - don’t believe they try out for it. If there are few girls that’s on the girls for not deciding to join.

Do you know of any club in TJ which has try-outs? Don't know of any.
No but it’s our first year there. I did not know for a FACT that there was no selection process for the space club but from the Facebook posts lately inviting those interested to come out it seemed open sign up just like the rest. Meaning that the group make up reflects who was interested in it.

It’s an activity kids sign up for - don’t believe they try out for it. If there are few girls that’s on the girls for not deciding to join.
