20 weeks. I fired an OB who gave the advice you got (eithout having been asked for it).
CVS only, no NIPT. I wanted an answer and not odds.

We actually found out with my first at 22 weeks I carried multiple mutations that could cause still birth or severe complications and didn’t find out until 25 weeks that DH did not carry the same complications. It was a horrible 3 weeks and I actually didn’t tell anyone while DH and I were going through that.

First: I was 33 (34 at delivery) and on a ski vacation with mom / sister the week I found out more or less. I told them because I had to stop fairly often and thought it would be obvious. I told others maybe 12 weeks or so.
Second - 37 at conception, 38 at delivery. I planned to tell my family when I saw them around 13 weeks, but my work found out (it was during Zika and I eventually had to come clean because of a potential trip) so then I told my family sooner too. Maybe 8 weeks?

I didn’t live near family and Friday ends at the time so I didn’t say anything. I relished the day anyone saw me hugely pregnant and didn’t know what to say, and it was hilarious when it played out that way. It was my second though.

I also wouldn't recommend an amnio unless your doctor thinks it is necessary. It carries a risk of miscarriage and hurts like hell.
I went past 41 weeks once and simultaneously had different people contacting me telling to induce and not induce. Fun times.

There is always a chance you will have to share the news that you lost your pregnancy. That unfortunately never goes away.
My OB told me she would terminate if her baby had markers at the test. I was pregnant with my first at 26 years old. It was an odd comment but maybe OBs see a lot of trauma they feel they should prepare women?

I was 35 with my 2nd DD. This was after a previous 2nd trimester MMC the year before and 8 years of battling infertility. I did not tell a soul in the 1st tri. At 12 weeks, I told my BF and Principal and parents. No one suspected as I was super sick and lost a lot of weight. At 29 weeks, I announced. I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks and ended up with 8 weeks of full bed rest. Most never even knew. I was scared and did not want to hear anyone's opinions on anything.
