You can't compare TSLA to the other auto companies because TSLA is not just a car company. It also produces solar panels, battery storage, solar roof tiles, and related services.
We bought our solar panels and power wall from Tesla.
Yes, they are all that. however, you are missing their number one future value generator. They are a leader in AI, and they have a huge moat around that product and it is growing every day. Teslas are not cars, they are edge nodes of one of the most sophisticated neural networks in existence. Like Terminator Skynet level stuff. Even if all the other auto manufacturers banded together (which they won’t) they would never be able to catch up
How's all that bitcoin you bought holding up?

I originally had a few TSLA stock before the split and now I have a bit more! Bought before I even had a car. Now that I have a car, the Y, I'm both impressed and unimpressed. Love driving the zippy acceleration car (no added boost, not a performance model either). Love the fast charging. Love over the air updates and love Caraoke (although could be better). I'm actually a lowish tech person. What I don't love is for a $70k car, its very lite on the luxury (like hello where is the suspension? memory seats, included homelink?) and the customer service is a bit lite also. Like hey go get your own car, see the dot on the phone app? Walk on over. I'm used to nicer service. Even get better service when I take in my Prius. When I'm ready for the next car not 100% sure f it will be a Tesla, sigh. Good thing I don't own too much TSLA stock.
Now that there are so many electric cars they all have these qualities. They all have zippy torque and download updates. But the build quality of Teslas leave a lot to be desired. Also, none of them have had a design change in the last 7 years. They are long in the tooth and look it.

Lots of us bought on the dip and are happy today! Hope you bought OP.

There are many people who see the car as a car and not as being "associated with his brand". It's a decent car all politics aside. Well off families come in all flavors and EVs are not just for families "who care about the environment". Plus it's international in its reach.
Well off conservative families buy trucks and large SUVs. Teslas are primarily sold in very blue areas and there are comparable EVs without the political baggage
Only in America do our cars carry "political baggage". Lots of people buy Teslas because they are fun to drive and they don't really care about politics. In our area, yes, politics are some kind of a big deal. To a lot of people elsewhere, not so much.
