Nope, and there are databases to prove it. Wilder has been a surname, not a first name. Similar to Madison, obvs a surname, and only became a first name after the girls who saw "Splash" in the 80s became moms. Daryl Hannah's mermaid was named Madison because that's the first strret sign the male character saw when asked her name. The data shows ... Madison rises from the 80s. Wilder only just occurred in the 2010s.

I also thought Almanzo Wilder. I always liked "Manly" Wilder so it's a positive association to me. Seems very masculine. I have a very hard time imagining it for a girl.
Not my favorite name but it doesn't have the bad boy or made up name connotations to me that it seems to for some others on this board. I would assume it's a family name or you had read LHOTP and liked it.

I wouldn’t use it myself but I also wouldn’t blink if I heard it as a boy’s name at preschool. I think I’d find it more unusual for a girl.
