Immediately at 25.
Several months with ovulation test strips at 30.
Surprise pregnancy at 42 without trying, but ended in miscarriage.

I'm very sorry for your losses but some of us can't be up front about that because it never happened to us. I got pregnant about two months after we started trying when I was 35 and I had the baby at 36, and the same when I was 38/39. It was easy peasy, no fertility struggles. You just don’t know about the people that struggled. It happens and is certainly not a lie, people just keep quiet about it.


And you don't know about people who didn't struggle because they keep it quiet because they don't want people like you to feel bad about yourselves.

NP. Just because there isn’t a 2 year gap doesn’t mean there is infertility. A lot of people thought (and some outright asked) if we had fertility issues because our kids are 4 years apart. Nope, not at all (both #1 and #2 were conceived on the first month of trying), we just had other life reasons for the gap.


You’re arguing the negative. Point is that fertility is pretty apparent when kids are perfectly timed. Not that other gaps necessarily indicate infertility.

Got pregnant on the first try at 35, super easy pregnancy and delivery. Started TTC #2 at 37. It's been 10 years and we're still TTC, I never got a positive pregnancy test and we did IVF that failed.

I wasn’t pregnant after a year of trying at 35. I ended up having children after two years of fertility treatments. My doctors were unable to determine what the obstacle was - tests of both my husband and myself revealed no reason we shouldn’t have been able to get pregnant naturally.

I tried on and off for 5 years beginning at 29 before I got pregnant. Then it took only 3 months for my next kid (age 36)

You're absolutely right -- NO ONE talks about miscarriages in their 20s. They are far more common than any woman wants to believe. THAT is the real lie - that everyone thinks it's super easy for women in their 20s, but the thing is they have miscarriages and struggle with fertility all the time and they just DON'T TALK ABOUT IT because they worry people will think there's something wrong with them, because they're in the 20s and are supposed to be in prime fertility. It's like this -- MISCARRIAGES HAPPEN ALL THE TIME TO EVERY ONE AT ALL AGES.
