Historically there is a lot of movement on teams between the summer of eighth grade and ninth grade. NL and ML will be the best teams next year (just like they are every year). DC express will be next best, but far behind those two. If you are looking for college recruiting you need to be on one of those teams (unless VLC can pull off a competitive team, although that seems unlikely at this point).

There is a strong imbalance between offense and defensive talent for 28 in DC. Both NL and ML are deep at pole and d-middie. But both teams desperately need high end offensive talent so there are spots for any player like that.

It is inevitable. The top local players will go to Next Level, but MadLax will replenish with out of state fly-ins and holdbacks.

Rather it depends on how good the new player is. If he is good, they will add him at any time, carry an oversized roster until the next tryout cycle, and then trim the size of the team at that time.

If we are talking about Hammers it is. It like other clubs where elite players travel from everywhere to get on the club. They are a B level club.

IMHO Hammers and Top Caliber are the hidden gems of NOVA lax. They provide a great place to play for the Virgina public school player. Let’s face it if your dream is D1 lacrosse its Gonzaga/St. John’s/PVI etc + ML,NL or hawks. But for the rest (which is actually the vast majority of players). Hammers TC and maybe Trua va are your best play

My son is not a Madlax player but that is simply silly and could not be more false. People will post anything. The 2023 class is the one that matters right now to evaluate D1 as 2024 are still verbal commits and some change schools. If you look at the 2023 DC Dogs class they have 19 or 20 and to the top schools (MI, Princeton, UVA ect.) NL and VLC are about equal in the 2023 class but Madlax was the top club in recruiting and are always near the top with results. You can go to a number of websites that have this information. People posting here are simply wrong.

At the 28 level Madlax has consistently been in the top three area teams and is easily the best team in Virginia. The coach gets some bad press but as far as I can tell he’s within the expected range for elite lax coaches. If you’re a talented midfielder Madlax is a great opportunity.

In terms of recruiting ML is also in the top four teams in the area and easily the best team in Virginia.

(1) Cabel's kid is on the '28 team so just be aware when it comes to where his priorities lie (2) no one gets recruited as a 7th grader and kids move teams as they get more or less interested in playing in college after 8th grade so where you start should be more about how you like the coaches, team, location, etc.

VLC is looking to add players at their 2028 team!

VLC practices at GMU- too far for most LoCo families.
